Hazem Shatila

Group Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer

Dr. Hazem Shatila is the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer at El Sewedy Electric, a position he assumed in 2025. He brings over 25 years of expertise in artificial intelligence, cognitive radio, and the telecom industry, having led major digital transformation and advanced analytics projects across both public and private sectors.

He is the Founder and CEO of Markov Data, an AI-driven analytics company specializing in offering analytics solutions to drive decision-making. He also serves as the Data Science and AI Advisor to the Assistant of the Prime Minister of Egypt and is a Board Member at the Egyptian Cabinet.

Dr. Shatila led many projects with multi-national companies including Intel, Samsung, Vodafone, Etisalat, Teradata, Ericsson, AT&T, SAS, and Huawei. He is also a Professor of AI, Machine Learning, Cognitive Radio, and Wireless Communication at multiple universities in the U.S. and Egypt, and an academic advisor and consultant to various governmental and non-governmental institutions. He played a key role in establishing Egypt’s first Data Science Academy in partnership with the ITI (Information Technology Institute) and the Ministry of Education.

He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech University, USA.
